Guadalcanal Diary - Trail of Tears/Gilbert Takes the Wheel - Axis Studio - Aug. 1984 - Video

DESCRIPTION:
"Trail of Tears" and "Gilbert Takes the Wheel" from Guadalcanal Diary at Axis Studio in Atlanta, Ga. Murray Attaway, Rhett Crowe, John Poe, and Jeff Walls recorded "Walking in the Shadow of the Big Man" there during August 1984. On the last day (4 or 5) of tracking, they performed a short set live in the studio for friends and family. "Kumbayah" from this set was used as the album's closing track. Mary Beth Gates, Robin Hall, and I think Kelly Noonan are dancing the mess around. I always enjoyed the female coterie at the shows, decked out in 50's-60's sock-hop/prom attire giving themselves to the mystic. John Poe is a beast. Jeff, Rhett, and I financed the album; Don Dixon produced it; Danny Beard released it on dB Records; Elektra Records re-released it when G.D. signed to them. I made the "Watusi Rodeo" https://youtu.be/Ut6yOjKoEUQ video prior to this with live sound track from a 688 Club show. It helped spread the gospel.
