Timewinder is an instrumental project based out of Baltimore, MD. With progressive rock, jazz/fusion and post-hardcore influences, when I heard this demo I immediately gravitated towards it when contracted to write and record parts back in May of this year.

"Antecedent" will be part of Timewinder's debut full-length entitled 'Hyperspace', due out in a few months. It's soaked with odd time, quintuplet fill-ins and other interesting 'drum moves'. The drums for this were mixed by the band.

Side notes, but this video marks three debuts: the first in which I'm sporting Vratim drum shoes, utilizing my Blackmagic Cinema Camera and tracking on my 5"x14" Pearl Sensitone maple snare drum. I announced my Vratim affiliation a few weeks ago via Twitter/Instagram/Facebook fan page and am happy I've got some content up - they're terrific shoes! I copped this snare earlier this year and have tracked lots of material (including all of 'Finite', what'll be my fourth solo EP); it's a wonderful supplement to my assemblage of tools. As for the BMCC, to be honest I think my settings need some tweaking as the frame rate looks a bit clunky. This is the first video I've put together, but maybe I should've ironed this all out before I filmed hours of footage, haha. Epic fail. Anyway, if anyone has some tips out there, please feel free to share!

Notes:
1:52 - fill-in complements guitar
2:07 - 32nd-note double bass drag into an 8th-note quintuplet fill-in (containing a flam between ride bow/bell)
2:18 - dual pedal hat 16th fill-in
2:26 - left pedal hat briefly superimposes a closed/open ostinato in 3-16
2:48 - fill-in with ride bell on every 4th 16th-note partial
3:04 - 3:15 - ride is accented on (almost) every third 8th
3:05 - quick 2 against 3 polyrhythm (ride against kick)
3:15 - fill-in at 2:48 is reprised
3:17 - end - cymbal theme changes to open 13" hats until last two bars, when it changes to (almost) every third 16th
