A lot of my blogs and discussions are based in and around the genre of Freestyle music. A wonderful music that enter in the eighties and is miraculously, still around. This music carries with it a lot of issues, due to the fact that there are so many passionate fans. So when I speak about a topic regarding the music, I want it to come across just as passionate.

ABOUT ME

LATIF MERCADO is known for his on going and innovative attempts to re-establish the Freestyle Market. His knowledge of the genre is vast and he has worn the hat of practically every position within it. From Songwriter to Producer, Video Director, Booking Agent, Manager, Label Owner, Distributor and Radio Executive. He was the creator and producer of the first ever Freestyle Music Awards which was held in Miami, Fl in 2008, his logo donning the top of it's legendary trophy. He created the first ever male fragrance designed specifically with the Freestyle genre in mind, a fragrance called what else, Freestyle by La'. Having his start with artist extraordinaire Lil' Suzy, where he went from her opening act, to one of her writer / producers, to Road manager then Booking Agent and Manager. Later on Latif married another Freestyle legend, Angel, the Lead Singer of the hit girl trio The Cover Girls. Latif later re-invented Angel as a Solo act billing her on a cross country tour as Angel "The Original Cover Girl" The results were staggering. His constant travel with now, two very popular and busy artist, Lil' Suzy and Angel OCG, who had fan bases in similar states, but different cities, forced Latif to come up with a way of transcending his artist into eachother's markets, Latif added another legend into the mix, Lisette Melendez, creating another major stir in Freestyle with the infamous S.A.L. PROJECT (Suzy, Angel, Lisette.) Today Latif resides with his wife and two kids in North Carolina, dabbling in yet another area, as a filmmaker. His enthusiasm and hope for the market has yet to fade, as he now tackles a brand new role, one that he is extremely excited about and is hoping to clear a path for the genre of the Freestyle community, and that is as Author/Novelist.
