DESCRIPTION:
The Runnin' fl'Utes of the University of Utah, conducted by Tiffany Sedgley, play the Concerto Grosso by Arcangelo Corelli (1653-1713), transcribed by Elizabeth Sadilek.

The trio of two flutes and and an alto flute, played by Deanna Biles, Dallan Gordon, and Brittni McDonald, represent two violins and a cello. The flute choir, representing the larger string orchestra, provide the forte for terrace principle of contrasting dynamics.

The Concerto's association with Christmas stems from the pastoral siciliano, a shepherd's dance originating in Sicily, making it suitable for a Christmas Eve vigil.
