Soupy Sales - Spanish Flea (Original 45) - Video
PUBLISHED:  Aug 18, 2013
DESCRIPTION:
Have you ever wondered where some of the more intriguing celebrity names come from?

I have...and, ol' Soupy is one of those artists...so, I was interested to read that the nickname, Soupbone was, appparently given to him by his family...this evolved to Soupy...and, by further evolution, we ended up with Soupy Sales.

This track was released in Australia in 1966 on a Capitol 45, CP-1681...
...a novelty rewrite of the Julius Wechter-penned track about a flea (from Spain, naturally) who saw other critters (like Chipmunks and Beatles!) having chart records...so, he figured a flea could be a successful entertainer as well!

The flipside was another novelty gem, "That Wasn't No Girl", which I've also uploaded to YouTube.

This upload is from the original 45.
