Soupy Sales - That Wasn't No Girl (Original 45) - Video
PUBLISHED:  Aug 18, 2013
DESCRIPTION:
If you're reading this, you probably already know that Soupy Sales was a much-loved US comedian and entertainer, who died in 2009 from a heart attack, aged 83.

Soupy's forays into recording often produced novelty gems...like this one, which makes reference to the influence of the 60s' "British Invasion".

The story goes that Soupy's lady saw him driving around with another girl, so she left him...Soupy protested (via an appaling double negative) that it wasn't a girl...just a guy from work "with a Liverpool haircut!".
When he finally convinced his girl to meet the guy, the guy had had a haircut!!!

It was released in Australia in 1966 as the flipside of a Capitol 45, CP-1681.
The A. side was a novelty vocal version of the Herb Alpert hit, 'Spanish Flea', which I've also uploaded to YouTube.

This upload is from the original 45.
