A note on the content. The point of having kids playing a graphic game of "Cowboys & Indians" was to unsettle the viewer. Many deep-seeded divisions in our society still exist - in fact are getting worse - and the root of the problem is never adequately addressed due to our complacence that "it's getting better." This video is intended to rattle us out of consciously and subconsciously passing down messages of intolerance.
The voice in the verse is the old way of thinking - that God put us on one side or another for a reason, and so it should stay that way. And the voice in the chorus is different - it is the voice of progress and unity. We apologize if the accompanying imagery is too much for those whose lives have been shattered by senseless violence. But hopefully the positive message will win out, and this video will compel more people to"cut the strings" and cross the proverbial river every day. We are all Mutts.
