DESCRIPTION:
This month Seeing Sounds shines a light on Jamaican music history with the legendary film Rockers (1978). During the heydays of reggae music, this vibrant movie gives an authentic look into the unique music business of Jamaica, everyday politics and rastafari culture. Featuring performances by Burning Spear, Jacob Miller and the reggae version of Robin Hood, Leroy 'Horsemouth' Wallace in the leading role. Rockers will be introduced with Andrew Makkinga (VPRO). Music before and after is selected by DJ Bizar, who will play a strictly vinyl roots reggae set.
