East Van Digital presents our 19th single with Joseph Martin Feat. Sauce, “Rock Freak”.

Since ’98, Joseph Martin has become synonymous with funky house music sounds, from clubs and festivals all over Western Canada, he is well known to get disco fingers wagging. Vancouver wordsmith SoS aka Sauce (of Amoeba Sound Design) has been on his game for over 15 years, with a dozen records under his belt, and a gift for verbal delivery.

Following a pattern of working with talented emcees like Chadio, Mr. Archive, Spyte and BBK, Joseph turned to Sauce for his next groove, a driving, electro jam loaded with thick synths and funky riffs. Sauce gives us a head nodding refrain before getting to the gold, showing his talent in balancing both storytelling and party anthem lyrics.

Recognizing the talent behind Alec “Riddim” Fernandez, Joseph lined him up for this release, and wonderfully got more than he bargained for. Riddim puts his signature on two remixes for this package, both stellar in their own right. The aptly titled Breaks Remix gets spooky with it’s atmospherics before the beats hit, then jumps into a lively tearout synth. Turning up the vibes, Riddim’s Heavy Dub is a junglist’s delight, full of neck twisting percussion, classic effects and synth stabs.

East Van Digital continues in it’s tradition of diversity, and with these three mixes, covers plenty of dance floor territory.
