Remember - an original rock song & Audie Murphy tribute - Video

DESCRIPTION:
Full title: "Remember (Confessions of a Front Line Soldier)". This is somewhat a rock song (the last half, anyway), and a bit dark or somber compared to what I usually do. Most of the Audie Murphy clips you find are accompanied by country music, which is probably appropriate, since he apparently enjoyed and even wrote some songs in that style. I was born in the same Texas county he was, yet ended up preferring rock, though I do have a couple of "hillbilly classical" humor pieces I may eventually get around to posting.

Due to his small stature and baby face, nobody believed Audie Murphy would make a good soldier. But, his heart and determination were rather larger than what most men possess. As it turned out, he was one of those rare people who did things in the heat of battle that nobody would have believed if there had not been witnesses. Still, Audie didn't love war - he just did his best to serve his country. (He once said his fondest memory of WWII was the day he heard it had ended.) So, this is a little tribute to Audie, to his friends who didn't make it home, and to those in a similar position today.

The clips are from "To Hell and Back", a pretty decent war movie, based on Murphy's own true story. While Audie wasn't a great actor, nobody could've played him better than himself, though for obvious reasons, he didn't want this role. However, he was under contract, and the studio insisted. He's not bad in some other films, as well, like "Red Badge of Courage" and "The Quiet American". If I come across any of his movies that are so bad they are good, I'll let you know.
