Mack Maine and Lil Wayne grew up in New Orleans 9th Ward and have been friends since the ripe young age of 8 years old. While Lil Wayne signed with Cash Money, Mack Maine, who relocated to Miami following Hurricane Katrina, went on to manage other artists and sell his own mix-tapes. Their creative paths didn’t cross until Lil Wayne caught Mack Maine’s performance on an unsigned hype show. That’s when he called and invited Mack Maine to join YME.



Though he’s never released an album nationally, Mack Maine has already performed on some of TV’s biggest shows, including Saturday Night Live and Good Morning America, and in addition to snagging the coveted Patiently Waiting Ozone Award, Mack Maine also ranked in the top 16 of MTV’s Rap Battle. These achievements are a testament to Mack Maine’s many talents. He’s raw, witty, and smart; he raps and sings; and his alter ego, Stupid Mack Nupid, often shows up on songs like Young Money’s “Every Girl.”



These days, Mack Maine’s mission is twofold: As an executive, he strives to make Slim, Baby, and Wayne proud by working hard to ensure the success of YME’s roster of artists; as an artist, he aims to showcase his growth. “I am how my situation is,” he says. “I adapt quickly. You may get the mean gangsta or the easygoing cool dude.”
