DESCRIPTION:
DC's Middle C Music named 2014's 'Best Special Event' winner, as recognized by the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM). Chosen from among music retailers from around the world, Middle C Music exemplifies the best in the business. Store owner Myrna Sislen claimed the award before an audience of her peers during the annual music product trade show, Summer NAMM, held in Nashville, TN.

"Thanks to everyone in our Middle C Music family for making it possible for us to win this prestigious award. Without your support this would never have happened," said Sislen.

Middle C Music was also honored as one of NAMM's Top 100 Dealers in May 2014, and the store was among the top three nominees for Dealer of the Year.

"Middle C Music exemplifies the important role that music retailers play in spreading the joy of making music throughout their communities," said Joe Lamond, president and CEO of NAMM. "By employing innovative business practices coupled with hard work, and passion, Middle C Music has set the example for excellence among music retailers."

Dubbed the 'retail Oscars' by Music Inc. magazine, NAMM's Top100 Dealer Awards spotlight the very best music product retailing.

Middle C Music was recognized for a reception for the Recycled Orchestra of Cateura, hosted at the store last summer. Myrna Sislen traveled to Cateura, Paraguay in May of 2013 to hand-deliver 39 instruments, donated by Middle C Music, to the children of the Recycled Orchestra, a youth orchestra and music school in one of the poorest villages in Paraguay. Later that year, Ms. Sislen invited them to Middle C Music for a reception following their performance at the Kennedy Center Millennium Stage. The store was packed with the talented young musicians and their many admirers who came to meet them.
