What up it's me AOBIE and here's me talking in the third person:

AOBIE is a lyricist/producer/songwriter from Oakland California by way of San Diego California. Growing up in East Oakland’s turbulent streets AOBIE found his way through music. As one of the founding members of the B.U.M. TRIBE (BLACK UNDERGROUND MOVEMENT) & a member of THE RUNAWAY SLAVES he’s been ripping mics, mc’s and stages since the age of 13. He's been touted by many as the West's "greatest rapper you never heard". Ok, now you know!

AOBIE signed a recording contract with the Houston Texas indie label Ghetto Groove Records in 1996 and was featured on a nationally released LP titled “View to a Kill” by the artist Coz featuring Bun B of UGK. After some difficulties with the label AOBIE left and went on to sign with the Dallas Texas indie label Tru Game Records in 1997. He toured the mid-west and southern states and recorded numerous unreleased tracks including a hit with Devin the Dude. No LP would ever surface from these endeavors due to heads not having their business tight.

AOBIE went back home to Oakland and started his own label SLAP ENTERTAINMENT in 2001. He recorded his debut along with his producer Rome the LP titled “A Damn Fool” and released it in limited quantities in the fall of 2002. Shortly thereafter AOBIE met with Dan Pearson of Dan4Ent. and was off to NYC. While in N.Y. he met with numerous platinum producers and has worked with "D. Dot Angeletti" (B.I.G) Blockboyz Ent.’s "Jayd Daniels" (Mary J, Diddy), "Mr. Fingaz" ( Ja-Rule, Fabolous, Jay Z ),"N.O. Joe"( Scarface, UGK ) "Mega Hertz" ( P Diddy, 50 Cent ) "Mike Mosley" ( Tupac ) and "E-A-Ski" ( Ice Cube ). AOBIE has garnered the attention of many major label exec’s including the likes of the late great Atlantic Records founder Ehmet Ertegan.

As the music industry went into decline and despair AOBIE realized his potential as a songwriter and went on to create the rock star alias JIMMY XROSS fusing the genres of Hip Hop & Rock. This would eventually land him on an online reality show through AOL called “The Biz” and result in a recording contract with a Warner Brothers distributed label. To make a long story short AOBIE ended up saying “Fuck You!!!" to the vulturistic major labels and he’s back on his indie grind with a collection of material.

The first volume titled “CULTURE OR FREEDOM” is an introspective collection dealing with self maturation, real life issues that we all face day to day and the internal battle to do what you’re called to do as opposed to what you want to do! Not just party and bullshit music but songs with some substance which are needed in these times of heavily saturated weak shit.

AOBIE has always kept it real and street but now he’s taking his realness to a higher level. Love him or hate him but you can’t stop his grind and he has something to say that he needs you to hear!
