DESCRIPTION:
The McGavock High School Marching Band from Nashville, TN did an opera themed show in 1994 called "A Night at the Opera." This is one of my all time personal favorite marching band shows. The music and staging with the columns and the guard with the gowns all worked together so well. The 1994 staff was not playing this particular year when they put this production together. The band's marching fundamentals were probably some of the best that I have seen, even up until now from any high school. They had the power of the brass, the nice full sound of the woodwinds, nice percussion section and an awasome guard that was about 40 strong. I remember seeing them at football game, when we played them, and I was just blown away. To anybody that marched this particular year, I was jealous of you guys but I wanted to see you do well at COC. At COC McGavock won reserve grand champion, Lafayette HS from Kentucky barely edged you guys out by a tenth of a point, if I remember correctly, and won grand champion. Great work McGavock Band 1994, you should have taken this production to BOA beacuse I really think you would have done really well. Since the 1994 year, do not think that the program has been able to reach this level of excitement in any of its following shows. Although I think that the 1995 and 1996 shows were close but just missed the target.
