DESCRIPTION:
The Latin Jazz Youth Ensemble of San Francisco is a 13 year old group that is free and provides music and performance education to young musicians ages 10-17. The group was co-founded and directed by Dr. John Calloway (Musical Director), Sylvia Ramirez (Director) and Arturo Riera (Managing Director). Each year the group holds an alumni concert allowing for past members to play with the current group. Former member, Daniel Riera, composed, arranged and led the group of his song, TRANSITO at the Brava Theater Center in San Francisco on January 11, 2013. Daniel Riera-Flute, Anthony del Barrio-Piano, Maxime Stinnett-Alto Sax, Kendra Kop-Bass, Hannah Ruangsin-Guiro, Ahkeel Mestayer-Congas, Christian Navarro-Trumpet, David Vasquez-Timbales.
