DESCRIPTION:
Country Music ; Kelly was born in Mullin, Texas, USA. Born into a musical family, Spinks’ father played bass and his grandfather and three younger brothers all played fiddle. He played in some fiddle contests, but gradually moved into playing the honky tonk dancehall circuit, chiefly in the western and northern parts of Texas. He worked with several noted names in the country music scene of his home state, among them Johnny Bush, Fiddlin’ Frenchie Burke and Hank Thompson. Although he remains in the outlying parts of Texas, Spinks also appears regularly in Fort Worth. Just as his playing and singing became popular with audiences on the honky tonk scene, so he also gathered plaudits from experienced artists such as Bush and Cornell Hurd. Among regular members of his band, which he has named Miles Of Texas, are steel guitar player Rooster Crow, guitarists Pat McShan and William Manuel, bass player Joe Daniel and drummer Mikey Caperton. In 1998, Spinks was named Entertainer Of The Year by the West Texas Music Hall of Fame.
