PUBLISHED:  Nov 24, 2011
DESCRIPTION:
Interview with Andy Capp aka Linford Anderson (commonly misspelled as "Lynford"). Andy Capp is a premiere recording engineer from the roots of Jamaican recording. He started on radio and moved into sound recording. Andy Capp was an engineer at Dynamic studios approximately 1962 and was working in radio before that! He engineered at countless studios and recorded an enormous number of artists from Robert Marley to Roberta Flack.
Andy Capp: "When I record music, I was working in the studio. Musicians play for me an’ don’t charge me. They do it for free! I bring in the artists and the agreement is that they will receive royalties. I give the songs to people to distribute – Joe Gibbs, Byron Lee, Lee Perry. I never sign an agreement, ever! All the music that I create, I don’t get any money for, except “Dr. No Go” for Sonia Pottinger, she give my thirty dollars. “Sweetheart “ by Bim and Clover is mine solely. A guy that lives in Florida now, he was going to distribute it, but I don’t get anything from it."
