DESCRIPTION:
Hosted by Bruce MacGregor (promoter and director) - founder of Blazin' Fiddles - the 'Northern Roots Festival 2010' ran from June 4th to 6th and featured a varied line-up of amazing talent, plus a songwriters weekend workshop supported by PRS.
Throughout the entire festival Artist & Author Paul Taggart was to be found working away at his easel - chronicling the festival in a series of three wtaercolour montage paintings. These were donated by Paul Taggart and his partner Eileen Tunnell as prizes in a fund-raising raffle in support of Northern Roots Festival.
"Northern Roots Festival aims to celebrate roots and acoustic music in all its forms -- folk, country, bluegrass, blues......anything as long as it is good!
The festival is run at Bogbain Adventure and Heritage farm, just three miles outside of Inverness, Scotland.
It is run by me, Bruce MacGregor, founder of Blazin Fiddles, BBC radio Scotland presenter and director of Bogbain Adventure Farm.
The festival continues its promotion of good music throughout the year with concerts and sessions held at the farm. Acts such as Tim O'Brien, Dick Gaughan, The Groanbox Boys and Kathleen MacInnes have all graced the wee home made stage. Regular Open Music Sessions are held, where there can at times be as many as twenty musicians and singers taking part.
These sessions are captured by Artist & Author Paul Taggart who was an integral part of the inaugural Northern Roots Festival in 2009."
