GRIOGAIR

Griogair Labhruidh was brought up by Loch Lomond and belongs to the Labhruidh family of Ballachulish who were renowned in Scotland for Highland music. He was immersed in his family's piping traditions from a young age and has for many years now, devoted himself to being an ambassador for the depth of the Gaelic tradition to which he belongs pursuing piping, singing, storytelling and other endeavors.
Griogair is a fluent natural speaker of the now rarely heard Ballachulish dialect of Gaelic. He has resurrected much rare material through his research into his tradition and is committed to keeping his particular regional variation of the Gaelic dialect, singing and piping alive.
Griogair's influences include many of the singers who were recorded by the School of Scottish Studies. He also draws much of his material from earlier collections of traditional material made by collectors and folklorists in his area.
He has two commercial recordings Dail-rìata and Guaillibh a Chèile and performs regularly with some of the most notable performers in Scotland and Ireland.
