Billy Williams - The hobnailed boots that father wore (1907) - Video
PUBLISHED:  Jan 01, 2014
DESCRIPTION:
More fun from the beloved Australian comic singer who conquered the British stage, and proved the most prolific of all early music hall record makers in England.

I love the surreal imagery in this song. It's one of his few records to lack jocular ad libbed sign off remarks.

Billy Williams was a little guy, being about 5ft 1" in height. His nickname was "The man in the velvet suit". Many of his songs he wrote himself, often in conjunction with Fred Godfrey.

Original Cinch 78 rpm record, played on a 1971 ULTRA 6043..
