Nataly’s Corner is thrilled to present music from the lovely and gracious songstress, Helen Rogers. Her album “Smooth Jazz Meets Reggae” was released in November 2015, under the Skinny Bwoy Records label, and is packed with groove sounds to appropriately entertain with everything from smooth & chill jazz to dance to reggae. The album has received high praise from several well-known smooth jazz critics such as SMOOTH JAZZ RIDE and SMOOTH JAZZ THERAPY. Paul Hardcastle fans are very familiar with this songbird. I miss the Paul and Helen music collaborations…but I’m certainly glad to know Helen is recording her own music.

Helen Rogers was singing and performing long before she met Paul Hardcastle, having started out in 1978 with One Stop Music, an independent South London label known for reggae music. Helen met Paul through her association as the Lead Singer for British funk band, Direct Drive, in the 1980s. The Band’s successful singles, “Anything” & “ABC [Falling in Love’s Not Easy], peaked on several U.K. charts. In her earlier years with Paul, she provided backup vocals to his remix of Third Worlds “Now That We Found Love” and his version of Junior Walker’s “Walk in the Night”. Helen actually co-wrote, as well as, sang lead vocals and recorded on five of the Jazzmasters series [I thru 5]…and we all know how successful Jazzmasters has been, with numerous top billboard chart-ranks in the U.S. and in Japan. Helen also recorded several compilations with Paul Hardcastle…”The Smooth Cuts with Helen Rogers” is one of my favorites. Helen’s BIO states that she always had a fondness for the “lover’s rock” reggae style music. Between 2003 and 2011, Helen recorded reggae covers of 1970s top hits with the band Black Steel and a Lover’s Rock solo album with renowned producer Lindel Lewis. In 2008, Helen had released her first EP “Eyes like Midnight”.
