Chord Switching Practice - C to F - The Fastest Way To Memorize The F Chord - Video
PUBLISHED:  Feb 01, 2016
DESCRIPTION:
Here we take a quick, in-depth look at how to switch between a C chord and an F chord. Switching from just one chord to another, over and over, is the best way to memorize chord shapes. This one is especially useful since the C chord shares a finger with the F barre chord. This makes the switch 25% easier.

Be sure to use the side of your index (first) finger when barring the F. Also, take a look at how high or low your finger is placed on the fretboard - if the creases on your finger line up with a string, it may be harder to press. Finally, make sure you're pressing hard enough, but don't overdo it. If you start to feel any discomfort when playing a barre chord, take a break and come back to it later. Sometimes it works best if you practice the F barre chord a few times throughout the day, for 5-10 minutes at a time.

This lesson is part of an entire series designed to teach you all the fundamentals of guitar:

When you're first learning how to play guitar, I recommend practicing chord switching between two chords. That way, you'll be able to learn some easy 2 chord songs on guitar, and can focus on the strumming patterns and all that other (very important) stuff.

Once you learn a few two chord songs, you'll be able to expand your chord vocabulary and learn some 3 chord songs, etc. It's more important to focus on the whole picture (putting chords & strumming together) than getting carried away with how many chords you know - quality over quantity!
