THE SCHAGERL BRASS FESTIVAL 2011
A Festival of Superlatives!

The Ultimate Brass Event for Professionals, Students and Amateurs will take place at the historic Benedictine Abbey in Melk, Austria, June 1-5, 2011. After the brilliant success of the 2008 Festival, brass players from around the world will meet once again in Lower Austria at the Schagerl Brass Festival.

Master Classes and Concerts will fill the week. This opportunity for personal interaction with great international musicians should not be missed! The festival is geared towards professionals, students and amateur musicians. Instrumentalists on all brass instruments are invited to enjoy the many large and small events the festival will offer: Master Classes, Ensemble and Solo Concerts, personal interaction with the artists, and the universal joy of music making will be at the forefront of the festival activities.

World famous artists, professors, teachers and ensembles will offer master classes on: Audition Preparation for orchestral positions and conservatory and school admissions; coaching on solos and concertos; chamber music; as well as the fundamentals of performance.

A "Who's Who " of the Brass World will be in attendance: The European Brass Ensemble (under the direction of Thomas Clamor), Mnozil Brass, Hans Gansch (former Solo Trumpet of the Vienna Philharmonic, and Professor at the Mozarteum - Salzburg), Gabor Tarkövi (Solo Trumpet in the Berlin Philharmonic), the Schagerl All-Star Big Band (featuring Thomas Gansch), the Nordic Brass Ensemble, the Vienna Trombone Quartet, and many other outstanding soloists and ensembles will take part - ensuring the festival will be an unforgettable experience!

Schagerl is especially proud that the great Australian multi-instrumentalist and star of the international jazz scene, James Morrison, has agreed to take part. He not only performs exclusively on Schagerl instruments, he is also working in co-operation with Robert Schagerl in the development of new models.

Among the series of concerts James Morrison will present include "Trumpetissimo", on June 4th, featuring Hans Gansch, Gabor Tarkövi, Jens Lindemann and others.

A very special aspect of the Festival will be its location: the Baroque splendor of the Melk Abbey in the State of Lower Austria (approx. 60 miles west of Vienna). Designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Benedictine Abbey is one of the most beautiful sites in all of Europe, if not the world (named 2008 Best Historic Destination by UNESCO World Cultural Inheritance). Perched above the Danube, the Melk Abbey has long been famous for its continual support for the Arts. With the 2011 Schagerl Brass Festival, the Melk Abbey will become a center of the brass world.

The 2011 Schagerl Brass Festival will be an unforgettable experience. Don't miss it!
