Overview: Damien Jurado has been around for a while, seeing that Brothers and Sisters of the Eternal Sun is his eleventh studio record. Knowing this, we weren't surprised when we found the 10 tracks of this excessive title to be thoughtfully crafted and well-written. These songs are more like arrangements of guitars, strings, electronic melodies, bass and a variety of percussive instruments combined with layered, harmonized, singer/songwriter vocals. Jurado is able to create a mood-centric album out of instruments usually left to derive emotion on their own; he creates a space with his songs that brings you in and forces you to sit down and pay attention. To us, that's the mark of a great songwriter, and it's a trait that's refreshing to experience in our world of constant distractions and busy schedules.
