DESCRIPTION:
Founded in 1989, Orchestra Bailamme has an acoustic repertoire that mixes klezmer music, Balkan odd meters, Greek-Turkish and Arab music, and original compositions in very dynamic, engaging and entertaining concerts, typical of the small Mediterranean orchestras.
The Orchestra has recorded "Mamma li turchi" ('91 SudNord), "Bailamme" ('01 World Music), "Non occidentalizzarti" ('06 Felmay), Orchestra Bailam e Roberta Alloisio "Lengua Serpentina" ('07 Cni), 'Harem Bailam ('09 Felmay), Orchestra Bailam e Compagnia di Canto Trallalero "Galata" (2013).
Its members have played and acted in several theatrical performances (Butterfly Bazar, Moka Cabaret, Il mare negli occhi for Chanceeventi), have collaborated with Cavalli Marci, appeared in the film Tandem with Bizzarri and Kessisoglou and played in numerous klezmer music and world music festivals in Italy and abroad (France, Germany, Spain,...).
Since 2004, they have performed in Russia, Crimea, Siberia and Turkey as representatives and promoters of Genoa -- European City of Culture 2004.
In 2009 for the 20th anniversary, the live CD "Harem Bailam" was published, produced by Felmay. It is a live recording of the show 'Harem', with many guests (Marco Beasley, Eyal Lerner, Marco Fadda, Roberta Alloisio, Marica Pellegrini).
