Albert Vossen (1910-1971) studied piano and accordeon in both Cologne and Berlin. He fomed his own band in 1932 and played at Berlin's Ciro Bar. He quickly became one of Germany' s most popular musicians, recording many sides for Telefunken - both his own compositions and those of others. He recorded not only with a smaller ensemble but also with a big band formation.

In 1942 Albert Vossen became part of the "Deutsches Tanz und Unterhaltungsorchester" (Lit.German Dance & Amusement Orchestra) - a true big band which was created in part to offer an alternative to Anglo-American big bands and because many orchestras were suffering from a lack of musicians due to the War.
