This is a repost of the Swing from Berlin (37) video.
This recording by Adolf Steimel and his orchestra with vocals by Herta Berlo is one I like a lot. The song is called "Großstadt-Lied" (lit. The Song of a big city)...
The song has a great rhtyhm and evokes the thrills and excitement of big city life. I rather like the deep voice of miss Berlo, about whom no information could be found...
The Adolf Steimel band made some fine recordings however it seems Steimel is somewhat underrated when compared to Michael Jary and Willy Berking. The flip side of this recording is "Hm Hm, du bist so zauberhaft".
True to the title "Großstadt-Lied ", Berlin is the star of this video wiht nighttime images of 1920s Berlin and daytime images from the late 1930s.
About the record :
Odeon O-31 669b / mx. Be 12884

The record is quite worn out.
This record was transferred with a 78rpm phono preamp and Ortofon Om78 cartridge and stylus in order to get an acceptable 78rpm playback. The restoration was done as truthfully as possible.
