The excellent Ludwig (Lewis) Rüth orchestra returns with one of the most famous German tangos of the 1930s : "Regentropfen" (Raindrops). The best known versions are those by Rudi Schuricke and the Meistersextett (the aryanised Comedian Harmonists). The vocals on this Ludwig Rüth recording are provided by the Metropol-Vokalisten.

Bandleader Ludwig (Lewis) Ruth (1889-1941) was under contract to Electrola between 1928 and 1937. He made a large number of popular recordings before leaving Germany in 1937. He emigrated to South Africa as his wife was jewish and the pair had a daughter. Another talented musician in his orchestra, Hans Carste, took over the band. Ruth tried to restart his career in South Africa but found the environment challenging. At the outbreak of the Second World War he joined the Britisch army. According to his daughter he drowned in 1941.
