Mother/Daughter Duet - Becky & Claudia sing "Sugar Cookie Man" - Video
PUBLISHED:  Sep 17, 2012
DESCRIPTION:
We are Claudia Schieve & Becky Boyd Schieve, a mother daughter duo from Cleveland. (Mother's on the right, daughter's on the left) This is our submission for the 2012 Prairie Home Companion Duet Contest.

"Sugar Cookie Man" was composed by our good friend Crash Coffin (http://www.crashcoffin.com). The song was originally written for my mom Becky to perform with her band. Then, at one of our duo gigs, my mom played an acoustic version of the song, I made up a harmony on a whim and it stuck! Now it's one of our favorites to sing together. We hope you enjoy!

lyrics:
Sugar Cookie Man - Written by Crash Coffin

Take your sugar cookies give 'em to your friends.
Go get me some money, somethin' I can spend.
Disappear if you ain't got ambition.
Hand it here. There's just one condition.

Diamonds are forever, such a long long time.
Sugar cookie fever is just a state of mind.
Cookie man, some things are not returnable.
Some jewelry might make me feel comfortable!

Take your bag of cookies. Give em to the girls.
Treat me like a lady! Go get me some pearls.
Cookie boy, I love your sweet intention.
But there's one thing I forgot to mention.
If you're sad and lonely and you got no place to go...
You can't bake no cookie boy, if you ain't got no dough! You nasty man!

(scat solo)

Way down in the Caribbean on some crazy beach,
We listen to the ocean roar while chewin' on a peach.
I don't mean... I don't mean to complain.
To crumble up you're cooky old machine!
Well I guess you're gettin' to me. How can I resist?
Take your sugar cookies and put one on my lips!
I knew I would surrender. How much could I stand?
Of the ginger snap and the tender trap of a sugar cookie man!
