Jerameel ‘Jaceo’ Quintela arrives at Clarisse headquarters with all the dancefloor armoury required to make the coolest summers spots his own. Fostering a burgeoning back catalogue over the last few years, including return visits on wax alongside Pleasurekraft and fellow Colorado roller Vedic, and familiar with the top of the tree when it comes to Beatport positions, Jaceo’s letting loose of house broncos out of Denver has set up home on labels such as Formatik, 100% Pure, OFF Recordings and KD Music. Quintela has ticked the boxes of Deep Dish, Nic Fanciulli, Umek and Green Velvet, and his remix of Ante Perry & Shimmer’s ‘Express Yourself’ appeared on Space Ibiza’s 25th anniversary compilation, as selected by Carl Cox.

His mission statement of moulding music “not to make you think, but to make you move”, is hard to argue with. Slipping in samples of Lloyd’s R&B slick talker ‘Girls Around the World’ is the glistening stimulation guaranteeing that ‘Ho-Up’ will get arms skywards and hips hula-ing, over a big ball of bassline body butter. Deep, funky and sultry, it only requires a handful of essentials to get and keep the party moving in a sunglasses-steaming sway.

Capitalising on the A-side’s strand of deep house activated by tireless, toned-but-flexible low ends, ‘Hustla Thing’ pushes you from the first needle drop and takes sweat trickles as its reward. As it imparts slivers of Biggie Smalls wisdom, Jaceo always puts his best foot forward with shuffling percussion and itsy-bitsy squiggles: it’s the kind of house that, contrary to the producer’s mindset, allows you to commit to thoroughly, as much as just letting your body do the talking.
