Well . . . I got drunk last night at the 8 x 10
Ranting and raving to my musician friends
They must think I'm a crazy man
They let out on Wednesday nights
But the truth to the matter
The truth to this thing
Is it's not really me who goes out to sing
And though it may sound strange
It's easily explained

You see there's someone else inside of me
That likes to party hard
He don't give a damn about anything
He just likes to play guitar
He gets real drunk and he uses my words
As if they were his own
But when I wake up in the morning
That lunatic is gone

You see, me now I'm a writer
Who likes his solitude
I'm not real good around people
Rather be in my writing room
I write about what is going on
In the world around me
And when I'm done the way I feel
Is enough to satisfy me

But that's when this other guy inside of me
Says, "You deserve a beer"!!
Then another one and another one
Till I'm grinning ear to ear
Then he grabs my guitar and jumps in my car
And heads straight for the bar
To stand on stage in a drunken rage
Singing my songs and acting real bizarre

There's someone else inside of me
That likes to party hard
He don't give a damn about anything
He just likes to play guitar
He gets real drunk and he uses my words
As if they were his own
But when I wake up in the morning
That lunatic is gone

So. I hope you realize now
Who it is you really see
When it seems I'm rambling on and on
Remember it's not me
I know he says some crazy things
That make me quite ashamed
But when he takes over I've no control
All I can do is play his game
