PUBLISHED:  Dec 25, 2016
DESCRIPTION:
Bruce Ray White grew up in a small town in Catahoula Parish, Louisiana, where his family has been since the early 1700s; he grew up hating country music, but has come full circle on that.

His first musical love was Southern Rock, especially The Allman Brothers, and saw many of the acts on the Capricorn records label when he was a teen. A great inspiration was ‘The Last Waltz” which led to a lifelong love of The Band, and Bob Dylan. He learned to love country music at the Palomino in the late 80s.He started playing when he was 27 years old, after having moved to SoCal.

After getting work done on one of his acoustic guitars, he became fascinated with the tools used in guitar repair, and that fascination led to a study of Luthierie, or guitar building. Since 2001, he has built 22 guitars, and he is an active member of SIMSCAL – “Stringed Instrument Makers of Southern California”, and is playing his handbuilt No. 20 guitar in these videos.

Live at Lockett's is an intimate concert series filmed in Christopher Lockett's living room in Los Angeles. It features artists from LA's eclectic roots music and poetry scenes. The performers are grounded in a roots tradition, but are not bound by it.

One camera, one lens, no zooms, no cuts, not even a microphone in frame - just a lone shotgun mic mounted overhead in a c-stand. Nothing between the performer and the audience.
