DESCRIPTION:
THAT FUNNY JAS BAND FROM DIXIELAND by Collins and Harlan, recorded January 12, 1917. A version of this song was recorded in December 1916 and released on Edison Diamond Disc 50423-L, but it wasn't released until May 1917. This Victor record is considered to be the first record released referring to Jass (as Jas, later to become Jazz) in the title. The record label misspelled Jass as Jas, I guess nobody had ever had to spell Jass before on a record label...The Collector's Guide to Victor Records dates this label to late 1916 - early 1917, so I believe it is an original release. Cool! Enjoy this classic!
