Born and raised in Birmingham’s rough and ready Handsworth district, Benjamin Zephaniah is a British Jamaican Rastafarian writer, musician and poet. His stature in contemporary English literature was underlined by his inclusion in The Times list of Britain's top 50 post-war writers in 2008.
