DESCRIPTION:
ZAPPATiKA play their own “zappa-esque” Rock music and also perform regular Frank Zappa ‘tribute shows’. They are based in Amsterdam but play all over Europe and the U.K. ZAPPATiKA’s real passion has always been, live shows with diverse & dynamic stage sets often lasting more than 2 hours ! In 2009 ZAPPATiKA released their first album, The Short but Legendary Flight of the Dodo, which was very well received and reviewed around the globe. In 2010 the band played to, and met, lots of nice folks in nice places and topped the year with a Saturday night headline performance at the Zappanale Festival (Germany), joined on stage for the whole gig by Frank Zappa’s old front-man (1978-1988), IKE WILLIS.
The band currently has 6 fixed members BATTATUTTI on the drums; ZAP MCiNNES on lead guitar and lead vocals ; ZOMBY WOOF on guitar and backing vocals, BONGO FURY plays percussion-xylophone and synths and sings quite a bit too, in september 2014 FRED HÄNDL joined the band on stage piano and Bassist since 2008, THE KID was replaced in August 2013 by his own father, JOEP !
ZAPPATiKA are currently working on various projects, including a new studio album full of new material they have recently written, this should see the light of day in 2014.
