Dekmantel and Grolsch celebrate their newborn partnership by presenting their first installment in the Selectors documentary series, starring the people behind Amsterdam fixtures Red Light Radio and Red Light Records. Both crews talk about how their unstoppable passion for music resulted in running a popular online radio station and a ‘diggers paradise’ record store. The video is shot in the lead up to the Selectors stage at Dekmantel Festival in Amsterdam and Dekmantel Selectors in Croatia, where all key players in the documentary will perform.

Shining a light on the Amsterdam institutions, the first installment of the Selectors series catches up with the community hub for underground music in the Dutch capital. Red Light Radio co-founder Orpheu de Jong: “We’re here in this perfect environment doing the radio, the shop is next door, we’re all friends sharing what we love most - it’s a perfect thing.” In the documentary both parties tell how they started their adventures and try to explain their passion and sense for music. Tako Reyenga, (co-owner of Red Light Records): “I think the knowledge comes from years and years of digging. You build up your database. You just have to do a lot of digging. Get dusty and on your knees.” De Jong: “the enthusiasms for all this music is not something that fades - I think maybe it even gets more over the years, you discover more and there is always new doors to open and see or hear new stuff”.

Selectors documentary series
Every country and every city has its musical heroes - locals who live for music and spend most of their time behind the turntables or in the record store, always digging for that one special record to complete their five-star collection. All energy is invested in their craft that is DJ’ing and sharing the music they have found. These exceptional and passionate DJs have set an example in their communities, inspiring many to dig deeper and share in their love of music. Dekmantel and Grolsch are inspired to take on the challenge of telling their stories in the Selectors documentary series.
