Wolf Navarro is a songwriter who currently lives in Humboldt County, CA. Born in Chicago, Illinois and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania he grew up with a love for music from Adrian Belew to Zappa! After being hit by a car and unable to walk for over a year, Wolf got his first guitar at age 17. He played it relentlessly and found himself listening to a lot of classic rock like Neil Young, Bob Dylan and the like. but he especially liked Marillion (The Fish Era!), Miles Davis & The Mahavishnu Orchestra, Kiss, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, The Doors, The Beatles, Yes, Rush, The Who and lots of punk rock as well! All these types of music blended perfectly in his mind, so at the age of 18 he left home for collegeHe quickly lost interest and left school to pursue a music career. After a few years on the road playing acoustically at various places and venues, he helped found the national touring act "Grinch". A 1990’s jam band with an arsenal of well crafted, lyrically intense, hard hitting originals and many, many, many years on the road!! A dream come true, they rocked the US steadily but the grueling tour schedule and fairly regular line up changes finally caught up with Wolf and he retired from the band in 1998 to pursue other interests. After a brief stint in FLA he moved to Humboldt County, California. He has been studying guitar under Ruben Diaz and played in a number of great acts like Eskidyoto, Bias, 7th Generation Rise, Kulica & with Earl Thomas. Currently he is working on a new band called "Silent Giants". Formed with DE friend and bassist from the Nazarites, Eric A Parchman and drummer Micha Crossley! Silent Giants is a mix of fusion and lyrical work that has been forgotten for years! They are going to start recording a CD which they hope will be available in the winter of 2008. Aside from the new band and the studio, Wolf plays solo acoustic shows, attends festivals and also jams with his friends "The Lost Dogs" plus his old band Grinch, when their personal schedules allow. With almost 100 original tunes and years of touring and opening for many national acts like Widespread Panic, Rusted Root, Moe., The Disco Biscuts, The Bailey Brothers, The Aquarium Rescue Unit, The Gibb Droll Band, Everything, Juggling Suns,Yolk, Schleigho, Jefferson Airplane, Lynnard Skynnard, The Derek Trucks Band, Max Creek, The Ominous Seedpods, Godstreet Wine, Blue Miracle, Leftover Salmon, The Missing Man Formation, JGB and Hot Tuna just to name a few, you can bet that Wolf Navarro always delivers a fun, high energy musical experience no matter which band he plays with!
Schedule changes are common so be sure to book in advance to assure you get the date you want.private parties are cool too!
