The lyrics are from Chris Stapleton's - guitars, whiskey, guns and knives. The music is from Whiskey Myers - Ballad of a Southern Man. I've wanted to play the Whiskey Myers song for a long time, but for me....it's kind of a hard song to sing. I'd heard the Chris Stapleton song only a time or two, and was looking songs up on my tablet one day and once again I was trying to sing the Whiskey Myers song. After trying a few times I moved on to look up a different song. I found the Chris Stapleton song and tryed it. The first time I tried it, it was his way.....kinda fast and whatnot. Then my wife hollered at me for something. I gave her an answer and sat there for a second. Then I started to play the music of the Whiskey Myers song. I looked down at the tablet and started to read the words to the Chris Stapleton song in my head and thought to myself ummm....that might not sound to bad. For me it's always cool when I figure something out on the guitar, being self-taught and all. This is, as of now my favorite song I've learned because of what I have been able to do with the two songs. I'd never put two songs together like that before and I'm a little proud of my self. Now I know I'm not the first person to put two songs together. I just think it's always a good feeling when someone discovered something for the first time.
