Lived a man called Captain Jack, who tried to lead his people back.

He was made into a Modoc Warrior, when the government tried to order.

Treaties they would make him sign, to steal their land and rob'em blind.
Chorus
2nd Verse
Now never would his children roam, the freedom of their native home.
So He answered the general trip, with his hand on the pistol grip.
General Canby died in seconds flat, now there was no turning back
To the Lava Beds they hide, the Calvary chased but the cost was high!
Chorus
3rd Verse
Now the Army it was sent, to try and take the warrior bent-
-on living out the live he knew, wanting only the right to choose.
There were over a hundred soldiers who lost their lives to several warriors
Finely there's no food to eat, position lost and they grew weak!
Captain Jack was caught and hung along with many faithful sons---
