Versatile

V is the name of Versatile’s first demo. Vastly acclaimed by both audience and
independent critics, such a powerful yet concise piece of work has turned out to
be one of the most significant surprises of the season: a breath of fresh air in the
frame of Barcelona’s alternative musical scene. V stems from the band’s
determination of being radically coherent while aiming to capture the essence of
our nowadays-convulsive times into a new and torn musical conception. Both
energy and character of the final result owe much to the love for the self-
production as well as to the overlapping of each member’s recent personal
experiences, trips and achievements.
Within the last three years, the band has displayed an utterly bright career for
such a young formation, obtaining an assorted variety of awards and successes:
The second price in the National Hard Rock Café and Senheisser bands
contest, the first price in Barcelona’s battle of bands Embrió 2006, selected band
for the Barcelona emerging musical projects program and live performances in
the BAM festival, Apolo, Apolo 2, Barcelona Auditori, the Jazz Cava (with
12twelve) and many more. Undeniably, these are some of the evidences that
outline Versatile as one of the solid up and coming bands to bear in mind.
V (Disparan las balas) was born in Barcelona, Berlin and London, after the
highly exepcted reunion of the band’s members. Abstraction, simplicity and
depth are now blended together so as to reach a vibrant and dark staging. A
project whose target is to define an attitude for the sake of attitude. Complicity,
passion, the fleeting beauty of the live interaction and the rawness of the lyrics
are some of the adjectives and feelings that have been inspired by versatile’s
atmospheres. V reflects the love for the sound textures; the repetition, the loop
and the love for the old school live recording freshness and power.
“ An overmedicated old lady frustrates a murder, mainly due to the fact that two
corpses are way too much… death is like the Dow Jones, but always in
bankrupt… everything will be packed with lights and flashes, all over the place,
just for us not to feel alone…” Versatile are Sergi Cameron, Dani Dóriga Albert
L.Palazón and Alex Farré: also involved and known in other fields such as
documentary, architecture and urban art.
