# 12 - Khabu & the Uke Man - Bleed Blues - October 08.wmv - Video

DESCRIPTION:
The New York City Connection
A grown-up former student of mine, Ron Hester, moved to New York and got me visiting the city. In 2004 I helped organize "Ukuleles for Sanity," a cadre of Ukesters to march in the protest against George Bush and the Republican convention. After the march Jason and Ted of "Sonic Uke" took me under their wing and let me rest up at "The Shoe" (The Murray Space Shoe, once home to Pete Seeger and Co.- see: http://sonicuke.com/stoop.php ). From there I got involved with the vast New York area Uke Community, playing the "Ukulele Cabaret," "Midnight Ukulele Disco," and other venues.

Somewhere along there I met Khabu -- what a musician and what a friendly guy. At some point Khabu was on his way to a Cave House in Indiana, and we were able to get a gig in Columbus, Ohio, as part of his trip. This permutation of "Bleed Blues" is from that show.
