This song is on my short list of personal favorites and this "period" of RUSH, the "Power Windows" / "Hold Your Fire" era, is a favorite of both Harry's and mine.

I was really happy when Harry considered doing this song as I was fairly well aware of the amount of work that would be involved. I think that by the end of the project he wished he had given it some more careful consideration before agreeing on this one. Once again he programmed the drums and additional percussion, as well as finding the best sounds for and playing the keyboards and blah, blah, blah...it's all there in the credits.

Another thing about Harry that most people do not know is that he can play acoustic drums just about as well as he does everything else. This, I'm sure, is of tremendous value to him when it comes to the drum programming. He did buy a bass a few years ago but never really got anywhere with it, for which I am thankful, otherwise he'd probably have no other use for me, beyond being near lifelong friends that is.

Anyway, kudos to him for doing a great job of capturing the essence of, what I would consider to be, the very complex mix and the very "big" production of the original recording.

After the last video, we discussed upping the ante with Mike and using the "green screen" format. Of course, he was up for it and, over the winter, I got some reasonably priced supplies from Amazon - the fabric and a couple of umbrella reflector sets with these enormous fluorescent lights... From what I'd read about green screen stuff, the lighting is critical. There can be no shadows or hot or cold spots and, for that reason, asked Mr. Paden if he would be so kind as to set the lights for us and, since he'd be here anyway, to film us. He agreed. As it turned out, two of the lights I'd bought were bad right out of the box but, fortunately, Mike had brought a couple of beat up Home Depot clamp lights over which he threw a couple pieces of copy paper to act as diffusers and away we went. It's amazing what you can do when you know what you're doing.

Thanks to Mike for all his creativity and input.

Anyway, with Mike filming us, it meant that I'd have to have my parts filmed in the presence of both Mike and Harry which, as a person who can barely tolerate being photographed, was more than a bit uncomfortable. I could easily write a few paragraphs on this topic but will not. I got over it.

Oh yes! We need to thank Livia Tedesco for contributing her vocal part in the choruses. All I can say is that she's fantastic and is the most professional entertainer I've ever had the pleasure of working with. She and Harry have a popular duo act and she does all sorts of other cool stuff. I've even seen her sing the national anthem at a couple of Met games (whoever they are), huge sports fan that I am. I'm sorry she didn't make it into the video because, believe me, you'd have liked that.

Anyway, I hope that you like "this" as everyone really put a lot of hard work into it, present company excluded. That being said, I really didn't play the castanets. Harry did it on the keyboards. But it was me who insisted they be used in the recording.

And finally, yes I am working on a couple of songs off the new RUSH album...shouldn't be too much longer.
