PUBLISHED:  Sep 18, 2010
DESCRIPTION:
Ritual Day formed in 2000 and gave Chinese underground scene a band that created death black metal. Inspired by Samael, Dissection and Opeth, this band focuses on creating a dark and evil sounding music and has grown to be one of the most respected black metal bands in China.

In early 2001, they recorded a not-for-sale demo CD.

Mort Productions released "The coming of the unholy year" by Ritual Day on the Resurrection of the Gods - compilation CD after signing a contract in August 2001.

Ritual Day was featured in the Chicago Rock Radio in May 2002.

During their first two years, Ritual Day played on more than 50 concerts and events. We want to present their most important ones:

October 2000 Ritual Day played on the anniversary of the Painkiller Magazine in Beijing's disco "Volcano". "Terrorizer" (an English metal magazine) - reporter Andreas Steppert noted that Ritual Day was the best act and would have a good future.

April 2001 Ritual Day performed on the "Northern Tendency" festival, which benefits were contributed to the Red Cross Society of China activities for the disaster in the Inner Mongolia.

Ritual Day were interviewed by reporter Ms. Anglea Lewis in May 2001, after getting the attention of England's famous Earache record company. Other interviews were given to the Painkiller Magazine and the Extreme Music Magazine.

October 2001, Ritual Day played on the Tianjin Halloween concert and got extraordinary cheering response.

November 2001, Ritual Day was playing on the release party of Mort Productions "Resurrection of the Metal Gods" in front of about 1000 fans.

January 2002, Ritual Day was interviewed by one China's biggest internet online communities for metal.

January 20th 2002, Ritual Day was interviewed by China's biggest metal magazine, Painkiller Heavy Music Magazine for their 3rd issue.

May 2002, playing on a concert for the opening of a bar, Ritual Day draw attention to the "Beijing Youth Report" and other media.

Also in May 2002, Ritual Day signed contracts for future releases with a Taiwan record company, with Trinity Records for Hong Kong, Morbid Records for Europe and Nuclear War Now Productions for the US.

In December Ritual Day was interviewed by the Painkiller Heavy Music Magazine for their 6th issue.

"Sky Lake" (released 2003) helped Ritual Day to establish themselves as brutal and raw black metal band.

Their second CD released in May 2004 (a Split CD with the Italian band Frostmoon Eclipse) showed a new side of Ritual Day: slow metal and thrash metal. Reducing the speed and slowing down the brutality stands their second CD in crass contrast to their first slaughterpiece. May 29th, they performed at the Old Get Lucky bar.[1]

In their most recent release, the band has shown a progression from Raw Black Metal to a more Melodic feel, focusing more on song structure than intensity, and lowering the tempo. Though they have been less than prominent in more recent years, the band continues to work towards a new album.
