Tommy Reilly & The Tradesmen – “Dakota” (instrumental) (UK Oriole) 1963 - Video
PUBLISHED:  May 21, 2015
DESCRIPTION:
Written by Bob Allan.
Hailing from Ontario, Canada, Bob moved with his family to London in 1935. According to Wikipedia, he was studying at the Leipzig Conservatory when he was arrested and spent much of WW2 in POW camps.
Returning to London after the War, he championed the harmonica as a serious concert instrument. He worked with George Martin in the early 50s and began releasing one-off 45s Parlophone, Pye and Oriole. He released a handful of discs on Philips in the early 60s such as “The Theme From The Sundowners”.
It was back to Oriole for this, his last 45 in 1963. Tommy Reilly & The Tradesmen? Probably an attempt to give him some beat group credibility. Whatever, it’s a fine western styled instrumental – a genre that was mildly popular back in the day.
