Born in 1997 out of the Wollongong punk scene, Topnovil is an authentic Aussie fourth generation punk rock band in every possible way. Heavily influenced by "77" Punk including The Clash, and third generation punk rock bands such as Rancid and The Bouncing Souls, you can hear where the lads developed their distinctive Punk Rock sound with undertones of Ska.
Sharing their lives, times and loves through the years are shown in socialist lyrics and tunes that are fast, short, catchy, and simple adding to a powerfully paced show. These boys are everything you need in a punk rock fix. Topnovil are truth in lyrics drawring from life growing up in the housing commission estate having experienced the underside of life but never giving up. Dealing with the cards you've been dealt is what Dee Dee writes into every tune making him the storyteller he is. The art of storytelling through lyrics is not lost on this band…
With an extensive body of work including festivals performances, Australian tours and International Supports having played with their punk rock hero's The Bouncing Souls, US Bombs and H Block 101, appearances on TV including Channel V, various punk compilations, 5 Independent EP's and now with an 18 track record due for release in 2011. Topnovil will continue to reach its audience through the music they release and their live show.
Topnovil's on stage chemistry provides high energy and intense shows, never giving anything less. Not just another "Oi" band, the bass driven rhythm, guitar hooks in every tune, makes you sing toppy songs when times are rough. Every show makes you feel alive with many a long night from all these great shows. The lads are inspired by friends, families and people that dig the music and above all to tell their story.
Given the chance Topnovil will become part of your life with their show giving you the chance to forget yourself longing for those sound-infectious tunes you'll find hard to forget. It has been a long ride meeting great folks along the way, sleeping on the floors in many a punk share house. Memories of fun times drinking with the crew that come to the shows are endless and will never be forgotten. Some of the best people in this world live somewhere between dusk and daylight and Topnovil will be travelling to the end to have these times again and again.
