Hackney might not be synonymous for spawning tomorrow’s stars, but eighteen year old Tia Jean is an exception. Born and raised in the East London borough, Tia’s vocal talent came naturally to her.

‘Spotted’ singing on the street by a fellow artist who persuaded her to accompany him to the studio and orchestrated the introduction to acclaimed singer/songwriters Ali Tennant (who penned Lemar’s stunning ‘It’s Not That Easy’) and Wayne Hector (who has written for Westlife, Carrie Underwood, Rascall Flats and James Morrison) the last year has been a whirl-wind of preparation for Tia.

With a developed talent for writing herself, Tia has penned tracks for consideration for new LA Reid signing ‘A girl called Jane’, new Jive US Records act ‘Asia’ and has even had one of her self-penned tracks considered for Beyonce’s album.

Having just returned from New York where Tia spent time writing with the great Salaam Remi, being shot by photographer to the stars Keith Major (Beyonce, Nas, Lauryn Hill) Tia’s returned to the UK focused and determined; “Fame can come if you’ve got nothing to sustain it. I look at an artist like Beyonce and just know that it’s her amazing talent and work ethic that keep her at the top of her game, she always on her J-O-B and I’m totally inspired by that.”

And it’s not just the radio waves that are set for a taste of Tia Jean. Seven years of training at AnnaScher Theatre School have primed the former Grange Hill character for consideration for a role as the lead vocalist in ‘FreeFonix,’ a forty-four part BBC animated series which is the brainchild of Magnus Fiennes brother of Ralph and Joseph Fiennes.)

Just as the FreeFonix use their musical talent and discovery of the ‘thirteenth note’ to fight evil, Tia Jean is equally passionate about perpetuating a positive message into society. Staunchly anti-drugs, the experience of growing up in one of London’s most notorious boroughs hasn’t marred her passion for life and achievement. “when I get to the point where I can use my music to influence other young people to stay away from drugs, I’ll be delighted, I’ve seen the pain they cause first hand.”

With talent that is a true rarity and the passion to implement it, it seems written that it won’t take Tia Jean long at all.

Walk Away (Part I and II) is Tia’s debut single, produced by uber producer Guz Lally who has brought us Mutya Buena’s ‘Suffer For Love’ and Fundamental’s ‘Playground’. Tia is managed by jackie@jdmanagement.co.uk on behalf of Three Point Music.
