Marin Marais - Les Folies D'Espagne for Solo Flute - Video
PUBLISHED:  Nov 04, 2013
DESCRIPTION:
This is most of Marin Marais's Les Folies D'Espagne that was written in 1701, which is a series of variations based off of a spanish musical theme called La Folia. It was originally written for the bass viol, or the viol de gamba, and was transcribed for melody instruments by the composer.

I decided not to play variations 5, 8, 9, 12, 16, 19, and 22 to keep the video from becoming too long. Variations 3 and 4 were also switched to provide a little more variety in tempo between the variations.

What I learned from making this video:
I need to stop playing into the stand so much.
Baroque pieces are so nice without any vibrato!
I probably should stop moving with the beat so much.
Rubato is awesome for covering up mistakes in unaccompanied pieces.

And I'm sorry for the visual video quality. I can officially say that my old 2009 Flip camcorder needs to be replaced soon.

I hope that you enjoy listening to this as much as I enjoy playing it! :)
