Music is Magic.
I've always known this, but I didn't start writing my own songs until the age of 20.
Now, looking back, I've been a professional musician since my debut album 'To Whom It May Concern'.
It was rewarded two Norwegian Grammies in 1996: 'Female Artist of the Year' and 'Album of The Year'. After that I was through washing dishes in the hospital kitchen forever.
I write my own music and lyrics, I sing, I play different guitars and some piano. My first four albums was released by Polygram and Universal Music. In 2003 I decided it was time to start my own label, St. Cecilia Music. My seventh album '7' was released in 2010, and I hope it will not be my last. I find myself doing things for music's sake that I wouldn't do otherwise, so I'll probably have a few more shots at the circus.
I was born and still live in Oslo.
I play live concerts constantly, and although Norway is my main territory, I've played my music in four different world territories and visited more cities than I can remember. I've met incredible musicians from all over the word, some of them I've worked with, a few I've just kissed.
Here's something someone else says about me:
"It's safe to say Unni Wilhelmsen is an experienced artist, now counting seven albums, numerous fans and innumerable concerts. Adding her personal signature and feel to everything she does, she is a contributor to the singer/songwriter-tradition worth noticing. In Norway she has been a major inspiration to young singers, songwriters and guitarists ever since her first album. Her fans love her for her ability to keep close to them, and taking them seriously as individuals. Unni contains all the pieces of a singer/songwriter-puzzle, but she also has this special something that sometimes makes the audience fall in love with an artist during concerts."
