‘The Who Hits 50’ Tour 2014 at the Echo Arena, Liverpool celebrates 50 years of The Who! I am fortunate to have seen the Who a number of times from the 70’s on and was at the Empire in 1972 when Peter Townshend smashed up his guitar [for the first time in a long time – he used to do it often!] when he got so frustrated at the lack of response from his foot pedals he exploded into a mind-blowing ‘weilding of the axe’. Keith Moon looked on bemused but continued battering the skins for all he was worth. It was obvious the show had to end and when Moon kicked himself out from behind his kit sending symbols and bass drum crashing across the stage the audience knew it was time to venture home knowing they had witnessed one of the world’s greatest rock bands. This show, as did ‘Quadrophenia’ Tour 2013 features video and sound from Kieth Moon and John Entwistle, who sadly are no longer with us.
