The Whitfield Company

The Whitfield Company was founded and organized by the late Minister Thomas A. Whitfield, Jr. in 1977. The “ Company “, as they are known, is a community-based aggregation of talented Ministers of Music, Soloists, Directors, Musicians and Ministers of the Gospel representing diverse denominations from the Detroit, Michigan area and surrounding communities. The group has recorded eight albums, which were produced by their founder and director.

Minister Whitfield and The Whitfield Company were the first to introduce “Praise & Worship” to the gospel community long before it became the popular music styling we are experiencing today. The Company has traveled extensively through out the United States, Canada and Europe.

Since the death of Minister Whitfield, “The Company” recorded the projects “ A Tribute To The Maestro” and “Still” and has continued to travel and perform on The Today Show, Dr Bobby Jones Gospel, The Stellar Awards, and were special guests for Bishop Walter Hawkins and The Hawkins Family 30th Anniversary celebration.

Today “The Company” keeps the music legacy of “The Maestro” alive by upholding his standards of excellence for contemporary songs, majestic anthems, and soul-stirring tradional gospel music and continuing to take time out of their busy schedules to remain committed to the vision….” Commissioned to carry a message of hope and comfort for all”. The Whitfield Company was inducted into The International Gospel Music Hall of Fame in 1999.
